Joan Nodelman, B.Sc., B.Ed., MBA has over 35 years of experience in organization, communication, fundraising, education and problem solving. Ms. Nodelman has the unique ability to recognize gaps in organizations, processes and management systems. Based on these assessments she has proven ability to identify and promote cost effective and pragmatic solutions.
Ms. Nodelman was a vital member of the Nodelcorp team that facilitated the multi-stakeholder process that produced the First National Engineering Assessment of the vulnerability of Canadian public infrastructure to a changing climate. She had a central role in the drafting and ongoing refinement of the Engineering Vulnerability Assessment Protocol for public infrastructure – coauthoring all versions of the PIEVC Engineering Vulnerability Assessment Protocol through its latest version (Version 10 BETA).
During the earlier phases of PIEVC’s work, Ms. Nodelman provided project management and technical advisory services to the seven case studies conducted under the auspices of the Engineers Canada initiative.
In the more recent phases of the PIEVC initiative, Ms. Nodelman, played an active role in facilitating two significant engineering vulnerability assessments on highway infrastructure in British Columbia. She helped the B.C. government team identify infrastructure vulnerability to climate events and, building on individual instances of vulnerability, helped the team to identify patterns of overall risk exposure.
Ms. Nodelman was an active member of the team that delivered engineering vulnerability assessment workshops in every province and territory of Canada. At workshops, she collaborates with participants and breakout groups to establish linkages between their unique professional skills and experience and the procedures established by the PIEVC Protocol that she co-authored.
